Overview

Nu.Q®, run on the Element i+™ immunodiagnostic analyzer, is an accessible, affordable, and quantitative blood test that measures canine plasma nucleosome concentration to predict the likelihood of certain cancers.

With Nu.Q®, veterinary healthcare teams can determine the current likelihood of certain cancers like lymphoma and hemangiosarcoma and develop a plan of action before a patient goes home.

Indications:

Older dogs (≥ 7 years of age)

Younger dogs (≥ 4 years of age) of breeds known to be at a high risk of developing cancer

The Nu.Q® in-house blood test is both cost-effective and simple, requiring only 50μL of EDTA plasma from a patient.

The Element i+ immunodiagnostic analyzer supports diagnostic needs with the following tests: canine cancer, T4, cTSH, cortisol, progesterone, and cCRP.

Specs and Technology

How Nu.Q® on the Element i+™ analyzer works.

The Element i+ is an in-house immunodiagnostics analyzer. Nu.Q®, run on the Element i+, rapidly detects and quantifies nucleosomes in canine plasma to identify the current likelihood of certain cancers.

While an elevated nucleosome concentration can serve as a biomarker to raise suspicion for certain types of cancer, especially lymphoma and hemangiosarcoma in otherwise healthy patients that may have cancer*, nucleosomes detection by Nu.Q® is not a confirmatory test for cancer. Certain inflammatory conditions may increase plasma nucleosome concentration.

Detection of elevated nucleosomes is an indicator that additional diagnostics should be run to obtain a diagnosis.

*Nu.Q® is not a confirmatory test for cancer. Nu.Q® results should act as an impetus to perform additional diagnostics to obtain a diagnosis. Elevated plasma nucleosome concentration does not tell you which cancer is present, and further diagnostics will be needed. Certain inflammatory conditions may increase plasma nucleosome concentration and in these instances Nu.Q® cannot differentiate between cancer and an inflammatory response.
