Canine Leptospira PCR – Urine: Leptospira interrogans serovars icterohaemorrhagiae, canicola, pomona, australis, bratislava, autumnalis, ballum, and pyrogenes, L. kirschneri serovar grippotyphosa, L. interrogans/borgpetersenii serovar sejroe.
A highly sensitive and specific test used to evaluate patients suspected of having leptospirosis. Leptospira bacteremia is followed by bacteriuria. Urine usually becomes positive day 7-10 post-exposure in clinically ill patients.
Interferences: Previous or current antibiotic usage may interfere with PCR test results.
