Test Description
A highly sensitive and specific PCR panel used to evaluate for evidence of infection in cases suspected of having a vector-borne disease. Includes Anaplasma phagocytophilum, Anaplasma platys, Babesia spp. (including B. coco), Babesia canis subsp. canis, Babesia conradae, Babesia gibsoni, Bartonella henselae, Bartonella spp. (B. clarridgeiae, B. quintana, and B. vinsonii), Recurrent fever Borrelia, Ehrlichia canis, Ehrlichia chaffeensis, Ehrlichia ewingii, Hepatozoon americanum, Hepatozoon canis, Leishmania spp., Mycoplasma haemocanis, Cand. Mycoplasma haematoparvum, Cand. Mycoplasma turicenis, Neorickettsia risticii, Rickettsia Spotted Fever Group (Rickettsia spp.), and Trypanosoma cruzi.

The panel also detects evidence of atovaquone antimicrobial resistance in cases of detected Babesia gibsoni.

Interferences: Previous or current antibiotic usage may interfere with PCR test results.
