Bio

Jorden is a Pennsylvania native and 2009 graduate of the University of Glasgow School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed a Small Animal Medicine and Surgery internship at VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital in Florida, a pathology residency at the University of Tennessee, and a zoo and wildlife pathology fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in conjunction with the Milwaukee County Zoo. Jorden has always been passionate about zoo and aquatic animal conservation and medicine, beginning with volunteer work at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore and the Marine Animal Rescue Program at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, while an undergraduate at Johns Hopkins University. Jorden completed clinical and pathology externships at Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium and the London Zoo, respectively.

Jorden joined ANTECH in March 2016 and until October 2017 was based at the full service diagnostic facility in Lake Success, NY. She now works remotely from Madison, Wisconsin but travels between the Fountain Valley and Lake Success laboratories to oversee grosser certification. In addition to being part of the exotics, fish, equine, and large animal pathology specialty groups, Jorden is a pathologist with the ANTECH Oral Pathology Service.

Outside of work, Jorden enjoys downhill skiing (and was once a Professional Ski Instructor of America), biking, hiking, and spending time with her husband, Zach, and rescue dog Duke.

Evan Mcgee

Bio

Evan has devoted almost his entire career to diagnostic veterinary pathology. He graduated from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1983. After three years in private practice, he attended a veterinary pathology residency at Texas A&M and was subsequently employed by the Mississippi Board of Animal Health Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. He moved to North Carolina to work with Roche Biomedical, Biovet Division and transitioned through a merger into Lab Corp, Veterinary Division and through acquisition by ANTECH Diagnostics reading biopsies for many loyal clients over the years. Dr. McGee is Board certified by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (1993) and has worked as a staff veterinary pathologist with ANTECH Diagnostics since 1998. His professional interests are predominantly oncologic pathology, infectious diseases, liver and renal diseases. Memberships and associations have included: ACVP, AVMA, MS Veterinary Medical Association, CL Davis Foundation and NC Academy of Small Animal Medicine. He currently resides in western North Carolina and enjoys hiking, outdoor photography, woodworking and gardening

Ty Mcsherry

Bio

Ty is a native New Yorker and a 1995 graduate of the University of Tennessee. Following graduation, he completed a one-year internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York, followed by a year working at the North Shore Animal League on Long Island. He completed his clinical pathology residency training at the University of Florida, earning board certification in 2000. His research while at the University of Florida included the evaluation of a Major Surface Protein of Ehrlichia canis for the development of a diagnostic ELISA and the evaluation of cerebrospinal fluid from ferrets and American alligators (How do you collect cerebrospinal fluid from an awake alligator? Very carefully!) Following completion of his residency, Ty worked in a diagnostic laboratory in Portland, OR, before relocating to the sunnier climate of Southern California where he joined VCA ANTECH. Ty is a member of the ACVP and ASVCP, and works from the ANTECH full service facility in Lake Success, NY, where he resides with his wife and daughter. Away from work, Ty can often be found at the nearest barbecue restaurant.

Cheryl Moller

Bio

Cheryl is from Perth, Western Australia and earned her veterinary degree from Murdoch University. She worked in general small animal and exotic practice for 5 years in Perth. Cheryl completed a 3 year residency in clinical pathology and anatomic pathology at Murdoch University which culminated in successful completion of the Membership certifying exam for the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists, Pathobiology Chapter. During her residency, she continued to work in general practice, and completed a Masters thesis: “The haematology, morphology, and ultrastructure of blood cells in bobtail lizards (Tiliqua rugosa)”. Cheryl relocated to the USA in 2014 entering a clinical pathology residency at North Carolina State University and completed a Certificate of Accomplishment in Teaching. She was able to maintain her skills in anatomic pathology with biopsy service duty at NCSU. She published several journal articles and co-authored a book chapter. Cheryl recently joined the ASVCP Education Committee to share her love of teaching. Cheryl joined ANTECH in 2017 and resides in Huntington Beach CA with her 2 cats and dog. In addition to diagnostic cytology and haematology work, she continues to pursue her passion for the marriage of clinical and anatomic pathology by reading bone marrow core biopsies. She loves exotic animal haematology and cytology, and is hoping for samples from tapirs. As a typical Australian, Cheryl travels whenever possible, and is always dreaming of Hawaii. She is a certified Yoga Teacher, loves Olympic weightlifting and is trying to learn the ukulele.

Richard E. Moreland

Richard is 1981 graduate of Tuskegee University where he completed his DVM degree, along with two other bachelor degrees. After an internship and instructorship in pathology at Tuskegee University, he attended Texas A&M University where he completed a three year residence in anatomic pathology. He returned to Tuskegee University where he served as an assistant professor of pathology for three years. In 1989 he moved to California working as a diagnostic anatomic pathologist in multiple veterinary diagnostic laboratories, and started his own biopsy and full body necropsy service. He joined ANTECH as an anatomic pathologist in 1998. Richard taught clinical pathology and parasitology in the Mt. San Antonio University veterinary technology program from 2003 - 2005. In 2005, ANTECH partnered with Western University School of Veterinary Medicine to help train rotating veterinary students in pathology and necropsy. Richard has served as the director of the Western University/ANTECH Student Extern and Pathology Training program since its inception. Richard’s primary area of expertise is small animal full body necropsy pathology. He is the full body necropsy pathologist at ANTECH Fountain Valley. He published a small animal necropsy book in 2009 (“Color Atlas of Small Animal Necropsy”). He resides in Eastvale, CA, with his wife Cynthia and his son Miles where they enjoy the many delights of southern California living.

Carl Myers

Carl received his veterinary degree in 2008 from The Ohio State University. He began his residency training in anatomic pathology at Kansas State University in the same year, and earned his board certification in 2012. He worked at Abaxis AVRL for two years before joining ANTECH Diagnostics in 2015. His areas of interests include oncologic pathology, endoscopic biopsies, and large animal and equine pathology.

Carl works in the Mississauga Ontario laboratory. He enjoys hiking, cooking, and exotic cuisine.

Jennifer Neel

Jennifer Neel is originally from Arizona and graduated from Arizona State University with a BS in agribusiness. She completed her veterinary degree at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and her residency and instructorship in veterinary clinical pathology at NC State, College of Veterinary Medicine. She became board-certified in clinical pathology by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in 2002 and was a faculty member at North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine from 2003-2021. She served as the Assistant Dean of Student Development at NC State CVM from 2017-2021. In 2020 she completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Veterinary Education through the Royal Veterinary College of London. She is passionate about teaching, particularly hematology and cytology, and has authored several publications and book chapters on these topics. Dr. Neel has presented extensively on various clinical pathology topics, including five international conferences on cytology for veterinary practitioners. She has also been recognized for her excellence in student teaching by NC State.

Fabiano Oliveira

Bio

Fabiano received his DVM from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), Brazil, in 2002. He then remained at UFSM to complete a Master’s program in veterinary pathology. In 2005, Fabiano moved to U.S. for his residency training in anatomic pathology at Texas A&M University and earned board certification in 2009. He worked as an anatomic pathologist for five years at the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL) before joining the Antech team in their regional Texas office in College Station. He has authored and co-authored several studies on diagnostic pathology. His areas of interests include oncology, dermatopathology, and infectious diseases.

Valarie Pallatto

Valarie is a native of Pennsylvania, graduating from Indiana University of PA with a B.S. in Mathematics Education and as a Distinguished Military Graduate from ROTC. She began her professional career as an Army Officer serving in logistics and human resources management positions at Ft Bragg, NC. During her service supporting the United Nations Operations in Somalia, she made the decision to pursue a career in Veterinary Medicine. Valarie completed her DVM at North Carolina State University in 2000, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She completed an internship in the Northern Virginia area and was an emergency veterinarian for a year before entering her residency training in clinical pathology at North Carolina State University. She successfully completed board certification in 2006. Valarie is a member of the AVMA, ASVCP, and ACVP where she has served on the Credentialing Committee. She is an adjunct Associate Professor at North Carolina State University, and remains an active participant in the residency program. Her areas of particular interest are hematology and dermatology. She joined ANTECH in 2006, and resides in the Raleigh-metro area with her husband Patrick, and rescue miniature schnauzers Maia and Juliette. When she’s not behind the microscope, Valarie enjoys running, cycling and sporting clay shooting. She is an avid football and Steeler fan!

Reema Patel

Bio

Reema is a citizen of the world. She was born in NY, and has since lived and traveled everywhere. She attended the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2000, and worked in general small animal practice for 1 year in Florida. Reema completed her clinical pathology residency training at the University of Pennsylvania, and was the recipient of the C.L. Davis Veterinary Pathology Scholarship Award in 2003. She remained at Penn as a staff pathologist following her board certification in 2004. Reema is a member of both the ASVCP and ACVP. She has published several book chapters, as well as case reviews on a variety of neoplasms in the dog and cat, and a novel immunohistochemical staining technique for fluid specimens. She has guest lectured at St. Matthews University in Grand Cayman, and worked as a locum clinical pathologist at Gribbles Veterinary Pathology and Diagnostic Lab in New Zealand. Reema’s love of clinical pathology is rivaled by her love of marine mammals, and she has interned and trained dolphins at Kewalo Basin Marine Mammal Laboratory, Navy Dolphins, Miami Seaquarium, and New England Aquarium. Reema joined the ANTECH team in 2012 and works from a Regional ANTECH Laboratory in Annapolis, MD. In addition to her diagnostic responsibilities, Reema also serves as Co-Chief Medical Officer of Clinical Pathology at ANTECH.
