Karen Dorsey

Bio

Karen earned her DVM degree from Louisiana State University in 1996, followed by a small animal internship at Oklahoma State University. Karen spent two years in general small animal practice before returning to OSU for a residency in Clinical Pathology. Following her residency training, Karen worked in diagnostic pathology in OK for a year before joining ANTECH, and relocating to Fort Worth, TX, in 2004. She successfully completed board certification in 2012. Karen is a member of the ACVP and ASVCP. She has published a number of book chapters on acid-base abnormalities, cytology, and hematology, and several journal articles, including one on ski asthma in Alaskan sled dogs. Karen has also presented at local and national continuing education forums. Karen is a competitive athlete, participating in halfmarathons, marathons, and triathlons. She also enjoys cycling, and recreational reading.

Jeffrey Edwards

Bio

Jeff is a 1979 Summa Cum Laude graduate of Texas A&M University School of Veterinary Medicine. Six years private mixed animal practice in Texas and the Marianas Islands (Guam/Saipan) were followed by a NIH-sponsored Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Comparative Pathology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore. He simultaneously completed a MPH degree at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Hygiene and Public Health. He became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in 1989. After 3 years as an anatomic pathologist at NIH’s Oregon Primate Research Center in Beaverton, OR, and 3 years as a pathologist at Texas State Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory in College Station, TX, Dr. Edwards has spent the last 21 years as a veterinary pathologist with ANTECH Diagnostics, where he holds the title of Chief Medical Officer of Anatomic Pathology. In addition, he is a Clinical Professor of Veterinary Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, CA. In his leisure time, Dr. Edwards competes in sporting clays tournaments, loves hunting and fishing, and maintains a honey bee apiary on his property. His daughter, Elena, a graduate of Texas A&M University, is the joy of his life.

Gordon Ehrensing

Bio

A native of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Gordon earned his veterinary degree at the University of Tennessee in 2016 after initially studying at the University of Sydney. He transitioned into a residency in Anatomic Pathology at Michigan State University and the MSU Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, achieving board certification in 2019. Gordon joined ANTECH in Indianapolis, Indiana, later that year. He currently lives in both Indianapolis and Lansing, MI, and his areas of interest include veterinary oncopathology and immunohistochemistry. In his spare time, he enjoys camping and hiking, spending time with his family, and amateur photography.

Angela Ellis

ANGELA ELLIS DVM, PhD, Diplomate ACVP (Anatomic Pathology) Furman University, University of Georgia

Bio

Angela is a native of South Carolina and a 2001 graduate of the University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, she stayed on at UGA to complete a residency in anatomic pathology as well as a PhD. Angela’s PhD project focused on West Nile virus in wild birds, and she necropsied hundreds of birds of prey as part of the project. Additional interests include other wildlife and exotic species, as well as ocular pathology. Angela joined the ANTECH team in March 2015 following almost ten years of diagnostic experience at the Athens Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory in Georgia. She is currently one of two anatomic pathologists working at the full service diagnostic facility in Lake Success, NY. When she is not working, Angela enjoys spending time with her two standard poodles, Blu and Simon. She has also been involved in aerial arts for many years and performs on lyra and dance trapeze. She is very excited to be able to continue this hobby in New York and improve and expand her skills.

Ember Epperson

Bio

Ember earned her veterinary degree from the University of Georgia in 2013 with Summa Cum Laude distinction. She then completed a residency in anatomic pathology at the University of Florida in 2016 and achieved board certification that same year.

Ember joined ANTECH Diagnostics in 2017 and currently works with a group of fantastic pathologists in Durham, NC. Her diagnostic interests include oncologic pathology, dermatopathology, and feline pathology. She is a member of the ACVP, AVMA, and the International Society of Veterinary Dermatology.

Ember is a native of Tennessee but considers herself a Georgia peach. When she’s not obsessing over biopsy diagnoses, she enjoys jogging, camping, attending concerts, trying new foods, and sampling local craft beer. Ember and her husband adore their kitty, Glen.

Meaghan V. Eren

Meaghan is a native of Long Island, NY and earned her DVM from Cornell University in 2011 followed by a small internship at Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island. Fidelia Fernandez

Bio

Fidelia earned her DVM in her home country, graduating from University of the Philippines in 1977. In 1980, she relocated her family to the US, pursuing her MS at the University of Minnesota, where she was a member of Phi Zeta Honor Society. She completed her clinical pathology residency training at North Carolina State University, and was board certified in 1997. Fidelia is a member of both the ASVCP and ACVP. She has published several book chapters, as well as articles on synovial fluid, Heinz body hemolytic anemia, and glioma. She is an adjunct assistant professor at North Carolina State University, and remains involved in resident training. Fidelia joined the ANTECH team in 1997 and works from an office in a multispecialty hospital and regional ANTECH Laboratory in Cary, NC, where she resides with her husband, and son. She travels back to the Philippines periodically for visits with family.

Jade Fisher

Bio

Jade Fisher, a graduate of the Colorado State University Veterinary school, completed a Pathology residency at the University of Tennessee in 2017, and is recognized as a board certified Anatomic Pathologist. Dr. Fisher was raised on Kauai’s southern shores and being away from the islands while pursuing her education left a longing for the warm waters of home. It wasn’t until attending residency at the University of Tennessee (UT) that she was able to supplement her connection to the ocean with a newfound appreciation to Tennessee’s beautiful rivers and waterways. While in Tennessee, Jade collaborated on research that investigated intersex changes due to urban and agricultural water runoff in freshwater fish. The data was part of ongoing research and Jade presented the intersex findings at the annual American Fisheries Society conference. In addition to enjoying aquatic and fish pathology, Jade also enjoys wildlife, zoo, and exotic animal pathology and volunteers at marine mammal stranding events in the state of Hawaii. Jade enjoys all things outdoors and spending time with her two rescue cats named Piki and Mac and a goofy Great Dane-mix she rescued named Silas.

Lavun Rachel Franko

Bio

Lavun attended Iowa State University for her undergraduate and Veterinary Medicine studies. She graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1993 and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1997. She applied and was accepted to the anatomic pathology residency program at Purdue University where she completed her Masters of Science in Veterinary Anatomic Pathology in 2000. Later the same year, she passed the pathology board examination and became a Diplomate of ACVP. In the spring of 2001, she joined the anatomic pathology group at ANTECH Diagnostics and migrated to the Southwest. Dr. Franko’s special interests include surgical, oncologic, and gastrointestinal pathology. Dr. Franko is a native of Iowa. In her free time she enjoys hiking, jogging, yoga, and spending time with her husband, son, and their two dogs Emily (a Lab-Boxer mix) and Jack (“the Pug”).

Jordan Fromstein

Bio

Jordan received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 2009 from the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) at the University of Guelph. After graduation, he was accepted into the clinical pathology residency program at the OVC where he spent several years honing his diagnostic skills. He became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathology (2013). Jordan has spent several years as a primary care veterinarian at numerous clinics throughout the Greater Toronto Area prior to joining ANTECH Diagnostics in 2016. In 2017, Jordan moved with his family to Calgary, as his wife was accepted into the Anatomic Pathology residency program at the University of Calgary. Jordan also works as a sessional instructor at the University of Calgary, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Along with discussing pathology with his wife, Jordan enjoys hiking, playing basketball and handball, gardening and hanging out with his cats and axolotls.
