Ionized calcium: 2.0 mL serum anaerobically transferred from spun red top or serum separator tube into a plain, unopened red top tube.
PTH: 1 mL frozen serum in plain transport tube.
Test Description
IMPORTANT: due to a supply chain issue, the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory at Michigan State University cannot measure the parathyroid hormone-related protein (PTHrP) portion of the Malignancy Panel (iCa, PTH, PTHrP). PTHrP testing is unavailable while MSU works to validate a new assay. Samples will be submitted to MSU for PTH/ionized Calcium. Until further notice, for future requests, please order S16595.
Results from this test will include interpretive comments provided by MSU’s Veterinary Diagnostic Lab Endocrinology Service. Their $15 interpretation fee will be added.
