Transitional Cell Carcinoma: What’s New and What You Need to Know
In this webinar, Dr. Alana Lozano and experts Dr. Bergman and Dr. Clifford discussed transitional cell carcinoma (TCC), the most common urinary tumor in dogs and cats. They highlighted the challenges in diagnosing TCC, as symptoms often mimic urinary tract infections, leading to delayed diagnoses. The introduction of the BRAF test has significantly improved diagnostic accuracy, allowing for better treatment planning. Surgical options, including partial cystectomies, have shown promise in extending survival rates, while new therapies like lapatinib are being explored for their effectiveness. The session concluded with a call for ongoing research and collaboration among veterinary professionals to enhance outcomes for pets affected by TCC.
