Specimen
Submit samples in 10% neutral buffer formalin (less than 1L of formalin) using a leak-proof container approved for shipping biological specimens. Label with patient name, tissue source, and date. Bag container in zipper-lock see-through bag separately from other samples. All shipments must comply with U.S. DOT regulations. Test Description
A board-certified anatomic pathology team sub-specializing in liver pathology of dogs and cats will provide expert analysis on standard H&E plus four additional stains for fibrosis, copper, iron and reticulin.

Reports include: microscopic description, microscopic findings, and pathologist’s comments, staging of fibrosis, evaluation of the degree of parenchymal collapse, and a qualitative copper grade. If applicable, reports include margin evaluation, and tumor grading. As always, a consultation with a board-certified internal medicine consultant special interest in hepatic disease is available.

IMPORTANT: Include a TRF with history including relevant lab work and imaging results.
