    Test Description
    Measures plasma ACTH concentration 10 minutes after administration of thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH).

    Sample Handling: Administer 1 mg of TRH; Draw sample at exactly 10 min post with EDTA tube; Spin and transfer plasma to non-additive tube prior to submission, label tube PLASMA; Send on ice, or freeze if submitting more than 24 hours after collection

    Test Description
    Adiponectin is a key regulator of Glucose (GLU) and lipid metabolism and has insulin sensitizing, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Unlike leptin, low adiponectin is strongly associated with insulin dysregulation and laminitis risk (not just obesity). Stress/feed/grain access prior to sampling do not impact adiponectin values and therefore may be a more reliable indicator of metabolic status and laminitis risk than single insulin measurements in some cases. This test is performed at an external lab.
