
Dr. Katie McDermott earned her DVM and completed her residency at the University of Minnesota in Saint Paul. Dr. McDermott spent all four years of vet school working and volunteering for The Raptor Center where she developed a strong interest in avian pathology. During residency, Dr. McDermott was involved in numerous research projects including grading intervertebral disc disease in dogs, identifying trematodes that affect the livers of juvenile bald eagles, assessing histologic lesions of osteoarthritis in mouse models, and characterizing ocular lesions in red-tailed hawks with iridal deformities. She remained in Saint Paul after residency and joined ANTECH Diagnostics with a keen interest in dermatopathology, zoo/ wildlife pathology, and everything in between. In her spare time, Katie enjoys birding and spending time with her menagerie of animal companions including dogs, cats, snakes, lizards, and fish.
