Ty is a native New Yorker and a 1995 graduate of the University of Tennessee. Following graduation, he completed a one-year internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York, followed by a year working at the North Shore Animal League on Long Island. He completed his clinical pathology residency training at the University of Florida, earning board certification in 2000. His research while at the University of Florida included the serological diagnosis of Ehlichia and evaluation of the chemical and cellular composition of cerebrospinal fluid in the ferret and the American alligator. Ty is a member of the ACVP and ASVCP, and works from the Antech laboratory in Lake Success, NY. He currently resides in Nassau County on Long Island with his wife and daughter.
