Sayuri Hayakawa

DVM, MS, Diplomate ACVP (Clinical)
Kitasato University Japan, Auburn University

Sayuri is a 2003 graduate of Kitasato University in Japan, and worked both in private veterinary practice and as a Japanese government veterinarian, for a total of 6 years. Her passion for knowing the underlying cause of disease and need for a definitive diagnosis first stirred her interest in the field of Pathology as a veterinary student. This innate curiosity ultimately lead her to relocate to Alabama in pursuit of residency training in Clinical Pathology at Auburn University. Sayuri is a member of the ACVP and ASVCP, and earned her board certification in 2014. She is particularly interested in platelet disorders, and completed her masters research studies on macrothrombocytopenia of Akita dogs. In her free time, Sayuri enjoys martial arts, where she holds a black belt. She currently has no pets at home, not yet having found companions to fill the void left by her dog of 22 years and her cat of 17 years. Where there is a will, there is a way.
