Penny Patten is originally from Oklahoma and completed her veterinary degree at Oklahoma State University in 2003. Even before finishing vet school, she discovered her passion for diagnostic pathology and chose to continue at Oklahoma State University pursuing a clinical pathology residency with externships at Antech Diagnostic Laboratory in southern California. She became a board certified diplomate of the ACVP in clinical pathology in 2006.
Penny joined the Antech Diagnostics clinical pathology team in 2007 and worked for 12 years in Dallas, TX in one of Antech’s large, very busy, regional laboratories providing cytology and hematology service. She has interests in a wide variety of species including small animal, exotics, wildlife, equine, and ruminant species. Since 2019, she has been highly involved in launching and expanding digital pathology at Antech Diagnostics including the Point of Care digital pathology and hematology service. She truly enjoys providing excellent service and support for practicing veterinarians across the U.S. and internationally. Since 2022, she has also been part of the Asia Veterinary Diagnostics team providing digital cytology and hematology service for veterinarians in Hong Kong and Singapore. She is a member of ACVP, ASVCP, AVMA, and the Veterinary Cancer Society.
Penny currently resides with her husband in western Oklahoma where they operate a small ranch raising Angus and Hereford cattle. She enjoys camping, exploring national parks across the U. S., cooking, golfing, playing guitar and clarinet, and enjoys listening to all types of music from classical to classic rock.
