Khush was born in Bombay, India, but was raised in the suburbs of New Orleans, Louisiana. There, he developed his love for animals and quickly realized that his dream was to be a veterinarian. He attended Veterinary School at Louisiana State University, where he rarely missed a football game, graduating in 2008. After Veterinary School, he did a small animal rotating internship at the University of Illinois, before returning Louisiana State University (and LSU football) to do a Clinical Pathology Residency, earning board certification in 2012. Following his residency, Khush completed a PhD at Louisiana State University, working with tick-borne Rickettsia evaluating the ability of ticks to alter the host-pathogen interaction while DACVP (Clinical Pathology)feeding. One of his favorite activities during this program was collecting saliva from ticks. After completing his degree in 2016, Khush joined Antech Diagnostics as Veterinary Clinical Pathologist and works out of a multispecialty animal hospital in Mount Laurel, NJ. Khush has published several peer-reviewed papers both in the fields of clinical pathology as well as rickettsiology. He has also held memberships in many societies including JAVMA, ACVP, ASVCP, ASR, and ASTMH and has served as a reviewer for JAVMA, AJVR, and VCP. In addition to tick-borne rickettsial disease, Khush’s professional interests include diagnostic cytology, hematology, and chemistry. Khush is avid sports fan and loves rooting for the Saints and LSU Tigers. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and son and the occasional game of golf in his free time.
