A native of Maryland and Washington D.C., Katie earned her DVM from Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech in 2008. She then completed her residency training in clinical pathology at Purdue University, obtaining both MS and ACVP board certification in 2011. Katie joined the faculty at Virginia Tech in 2011, where she invested 10 years of service in diagnostic clinical pathology, teaching in the DVM curriculum, and training residents in pathology. She has numerous peer-reviewed journal and textbook publications and has earned accolades and awards for excellence in teaching. Katie joined the ANETCH team in 2021, working remotely from her home in Blacksburg, VA. When not working, Katie enjoys reading fiction, hiking and camping in the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwest Virginia, and cross-country road trips to state and national parks.
