Allison Hayes, VMD, Diplomate ACVP (Clinical)
University of Pennsylvania, Kansas State University, Colorado State University
Allison grew up in Pennsylvania, where she fell in love with college football, and received her BS from The Pennsylvania State University. She remained in her home state following graduation and went on to earn her VMD degree from the University of Pennsylvania. During most of this time, Allison served in the PA Army National Guard, working in the supply room of an aviation facility. In her last year of undergraduate school, she deployed to Afghanistan for one year.
After vet school, Allison’s desire to become a more confident, well-rounded doctor pushed her into a rotating internship in small animal emergency medicine and surgery at her rival school, The Ohio State University. She quickly realized her love of diagnostics was better suited to a laboratory setting rather than an emergency room and decided to pursue a career in clinical pathology.
Continuing west, Allison entered her residency in clinical pathology at Kansas State University, where she was heavily involved in teaching veterinary students, particularly in bloodwork interpretation. Allison transferred to Colorado State University for her third and final year of residency, gaining extensive knowledge in advanced diagnostics like flow cytometry, PARR, and protein electrophoresis.
After residency, Allison moved back to Manhattan, Kansas – affectionately known as the Little Apple – and earned board certification and started a position with Antech in 2023. Allison has two pets, a food-driven Pug named Amigo and a trouble-making cat named Jean-Luc. In her spare time, she enjoys working out, playing disc golf, and watching football (Go Chiefs!).
