Biography

Dr. Koernig received his Bachelor’s degree in History and Biology from Williams College. He then attended veterinary school at the Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine and earned his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. He also received a Master’s degree in Public Health from the Tufts University School of Medicine, with a particular focus on biostatistics/epidemiology and using the human-animal bond to fight both canine and childhood obesity. Dr. Koernig completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center in Norwalk, CT. Following that, he then completed a radiology residency at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine and earned status as a Diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Radiology. Dr. Koernig also received a Master of Science degree at Auburn following research into the effect of collimation on image quality and radiation safety in veterinary digital radiography. In his free time, Dr. Koernig enjoys walking with his dog and distance running.
