Equine Chemistry

Test Code
L010
Results:
24 hours
Specimen
0.5 mL serum in red top or serum separator tube.
Test Description
Includes Albumin (ALB), Albumin/Globulin Ratio (A/G), Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP), Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST), Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN), BUN/Creatinine Ratio (BUN/CREA), Calcium (CA), Chloride (CL), Cholesterol (CHOL), Creatinine (CREA), Creatine Phosphokinase (CPK), Direct Bilirubin (DBIL), Gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT), Globulin (GLOB), Glucose (GLU), Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH), Magnesium (MG), Phosphorus (PHOS), Potassium (K), Sodium (NA), Sodium/Potassium Ratio (NA/K), Triglyceride (TRIG), Total Bilirubin (TBIL), and Total Protein (TP).

Panel is recommended for all large animal patients except for Bovine (use code L1001).

Sample Handling: serum separator samples should be spun prior to submission. Red top tubes should be spun and serum transferred to a non‑additive tube and marked as SERUM. If the serum is not separated from the red blood cells, chemistry values can be affected.
