| T735 |
Digoxin |
 |
| Specimen |
1 ml serum (No SST) |
| Method |
RIA/TDX (flourescent) |
| Schedule |
12 days |
| Indication |
To monitor Digoxin therapy. |
Interpretive Guidelines |
Therapeutic serum Digoxin concentrations should be measured once steady state is achieved (at least
6 days after commencing treatment). The optimal therapeutic range for Digoxin levels is 0.8 to 2.0 ng/ml six to
eight hours post-administration. Digoxin levels >2.5 ng/ml are commonly associated with toxic signs. |
| Comments |
- The administration of diuretic or angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, hypokalemia or azotemia
will increase the frequency of Digoxin toxicity, therefore, careful monitoring is necessary.
- Minimal cross reactivity for oleander toxicity.
- Do not use SST.

Dilantin |
 |
| Specimen |
1 ml serum |
| Method |
RIA/TDX (flourescent) |
| Schedule |
14 working days |
| Indication |
To monitor anticonvulsant therapy. |
Interpretive Guidelines |
Low levels indicate inadequate dosage. |
| Comments |
For best results measure Dilantin and Phenobarbital lavels. |

Distemper Antibody IgG and IgM (Canine) |
 |
| Specimen |
1 ml serum |
| Method |
IFA |
| Schedule |
12 working days |
| Indication |
A positive result indicates vaccination or infection with canine distemper virus. |
Interpretive Guidelines |
A serum IgG titer of 1:10 or greater is consistent with a positive immunologic response to
vaccination. A four-fold rise in titer over 23 weeks is consistent with recent exposure.
An IgM titer of 1:10 or greater is consistent with recent exposure or recent vaccination. |

Distemper Antigen IFA (Canine) |
 |
| Specimen |
1 LT
Air-dried, unstained slides from conjunctival scrapings, CSF, respiratory tract secretions (including
TTW or BAL fluid) or urine sediment. |
| Method |
IFA |
| Schedule |
24 working days |
| Indication |
For detection of viral inclusions in support of the diagnosis of canine distemper. |
Interpretive Guidelines |
A negative result does not rule out infection.
Vaccination within 24 weeks of draw may cause a false positive. |
