  M020 Aerobic Culture and Sensitivity
  Specimen Copan swab, urine, feces, or fluid
  Schedule 2–3 days
  M030 Anaerobic Culture
  Specimen For facultative anaerobes submit a Copan transport media swab of urine, feces or body fluid. For obligate anaerobes submit a port-acul anaerobic transport media vessel of urine, feces or body fluid.
  Schedule 71–10 days
  Comments Acceptable sites include:
  Transtracheal aspirates
  Cystocentesis urine samples
  Genital samples: endometrium, placenta, semen, and
    surgical specimens
  All sterile site body fluids
  Deep lesion exudates, intestinal swabs, and fecal samples
    for Clostridia sp.
  M060 Blood Culture
  Specimen 3–10 ml whole blood in a 20 ml Septi-chek blood culture bottle corresponding to a temperature spike.
  Schedule 7–10 days
  Comments If whole blood submitted, transfer to blood culture bottle will be performed at the laboratory.

  Comments Culturing fecal samples on 5 successive days is suggested. Samples should be submitted fresh daily until a positive culture is obtained.
  M220 Synovial Fluid Culture and Sensitivity
  Specimen 2–3 ml synovial fluid and a Copan swab.
  Schedule 2–3 days

  Specimen Copan swab of clitoral fossa

  Comments The culture must be initiated within 48-hours of collection (contact laboratory for special transport instructions)
