1 spun SST or 1 spun GT (with gel)
1 GT (unspun)
1 choanal or cloacal swab, or a combined choanal/cloacal swab |

 |
| Indication |
Investigation of Chlamydophila disease. |
 |

Chlamydophila Titer EBA |
 |
| Specimen |
1 spun GT (with gel) or spun SST |
 |
| Method |
Elementary Body Agglutination (EBA) |
 |
| Schedule |
57 working days |
 |

Distemper Antiboy Titer (Ferret) |
 |
| Specimen |
1 spun GT (with gel) or spun SST |
 |
| Method |
IFA |
 |
| Schedule |
57 working days |
 |
| Indication |
Investigation for a diagnosis of distemper in ferrets. |
 |
Interpretive Guidelines |
A positive titer may result from maternal immunity, vaccination, or natural exposure.
A greater than fourfold change in titer in 2 samples obtained at least 2 weeks apart supports recent
vaccination or exposure. |
 |
| Comments |
This test detects total antibody against distemper. It does not distinguish IgG and IgM.
Distemper antigen FA test on conjunctival or blood smears, although insensitive, is a more specific test
for confirming a diagnosis of Distemper. |
 |
| * S16501 |
Distemper PCR |
 |
| Specimen |
Urine sediment resuspended in 1 to 2 ml of saline in RT
CSF in RT or LT
Nasal epithelial swabs or conjunctival swabs
TTW or BAL fluid
0.5ml whole blood in a LT
Fresh tissue (not formalin-fixed) in RT
Preferred tissues are bladder, liver, lung, kidney, cerebellum, skin, and/or eye.
If using a Copan swab for PCR testing, do NOT insert swab into transport gel. |
 |
| Method |
PCR |
 |
| Schedule |
57 working days |
 |
| Indication |
Diagnosis of canine distemper. |
 |
| Comments |
Recent (within 3 weeks) modified live virus vaccination may cause false positive results. |
 |
| * S16877 |
Encephalitozoon Cuniculi Titer |
 |
| Specimen |
1 spun GT (with gel) or 1 spun SST |
 |
| Method |
ELISA |
 |
| Schedule |
710 working days |
 |
| Indication |
Investigation of CNS disease in rabbits. |
 |
Interpretive Guidelines |
A negative test result likely excludes Encephalitozoon as a cause for neurological signs.
A positive test result indicates exposure, not necessarily clinical disease. |
 |
| Comments |
The role of Encephalitozoon cuniculi in rabbit neurological disease is uncertain. |
