Accuplex®, KeyScreen® GI Parasite PCR

Code
KAC100
Results
1-3 days.
Country
US
Container
Serum in red top or serum separator tube, Antech provided fecal container
Specimen
0.5 mL serum and 0.3 grams feces
Description
Accuplex® screens for canine vector-borne pathogens. It detects Dirofilaria immitis (heartworm) antigen, C6 antibodies produced following Borrelia burgdorferi infection (‘Lyme’), antibodies to Ehrlichia spp. (including E. canis, E. ewingii and E. chaffeensis) and antibodies to Anaplasma phagocytophilum. Not for export testing."

KeyScreen® GI Parasite PCR detects 20 individual parasites, and markers for potential zoonotic Giardia (assemblages/strains A and B), and hookworm (Ancylostoma caninum) benzimidazole (e.g., fenbendazole, febantel) resistance.

Country
US
Specimen
1.0 mL whole blood, synovial fluid or CSF
Description
Anaplasma phagocytophilum, Anaplasma platys, Ehrlichia canis, Ehrlichia chaffeensis, Ehrlichia ewingii

A comprehensive PCR panel used when the clinical signs are suggestive of Anaplasmosis or Erhlichiosis.

Interferences: previous or current antibiotic usage may interfere with PCR test results.

Canine GI PCR Panel

Code
T950
Results
2-4 days.
Country
US
Container
Culturette, Antech provided fecal container
Specimen
0.5 grams of feces and 1 copan fecal swab
Description
Campylobacter jejuni/coli, canine enteric coronavirus, canine parvovirus, Clostridium difficile toxins A/B, Clostridium perfringens enterotoxin, Cryptosporidium spp., Giardia spp., Salmonella spp.

Highly sensitive and specific panel used to evaluate for viral (canine enteric coronavirus, canine parvovirus, and canine rotavirus), bacterial (Campylobacter spp., Clostridium spp. and Salmonella spp.) and protozoal (Giardia spp. and Cryptosporidum spp.) causes for the gastrointestinal signs exhibited by the patient.

Interferences: previous or current antibiotic usage may interfere with PCR test results for protozoal or bacterial organisms.

Note: follow-up cultures are immediately performed on submissions found to be PCR-positive for Salmonella (when a Copan fecal swab is received by the laboratory). Additionally, samples found to be PCR-positive for DNA of C. perfringens enterotoxin or C. difficile toxins are immediately tested for these toxins by ELISA.
